GS25, operated by GS Retail, announced on Tuesday the launch of a new budget-friendly chicken line in partnership with renowned fried chicken brand "Mexican Chicken," known for its 40-year history. The four-item menu, targeting solo diners, will be available from June 5.
The collaboration marks the first joint project between GS25’s in-house fried chicken brand "Chicken25" and a major franchise.
With the continued rise in delivery chicken prices — a phenomenon dubbed "chickenflation" — demand for convenient, lower-cost options has surged. In response, GS25 opted to team up with an established brand to boost its offering.
The new menu includes:

△Chicken25 Mexican Honey Butter Boneless Chicken
△Chicken25 Mexican Crispy Boneless Chicken
△Chicken25 Mexican Chicken Drumstick
The boneless chicken items are priced at ₩3,900 (£2.30) each, and the drumstick is available for ₩2,900 (£1.70). Each boneless variety comes in a 200g portion, catering to the growing number of one-person households.
The Spicy Boneless Chicken features a sweet-yet-pungent garlic seasoning. The Honey Butter version offers a rich, sweet-savory flavour with real honey and butter.
The Crispy Boneless Chicken distinguishes itself with a distinctive "curl" in the batter — a texture not typically found in convenience store fried chicken.
To promote the new offerings, GS25 will offer a ₩1,000 discount on all four menu items every Wednesday throughout June, allowing customers to purchase a full boneless chicken portion for just ₩2,900 — the lowest price for comparable convenience store chicken products in South Korea.
