[Photo: BGF Retail]South Korean convenience store chain CU is set to open ramen-themed specialty stores at ferry terminals along the Han River, where the soon-to-launch Han River Bus will stop.

The new initiative promises not only a wide selection of domestic and international instant noodles but also interactive experiences such as photo zones and ramen sampling stations.

The flagship concept, named the “Ramen Library,” will open in September in line with the official launch of Seoul’s Han River water transportation service, the company announced on Sunday.

The Ramen Library will feature instant ramen cooking machines and a comprehensive lineup of popular noodles from various brands.

It will also include life-size ramen cup displays and tasting counters designed to create immersive experiences for visitors.

The Han River Bus, a water-based public transportation system, will operate between Jamsil and Magok with seven designated ferry stops: Jamsil, Ttukseom, Oksu, Apgujeong, Yeouido, Mangwon, and Magok.

CU highlighted that it is the only convenience store brand to establish a retail presence at all seven ferry terminals. Following the opening of its first stores at Yeouido and Jamsil on May 31, the company plans to roll out the remaining five stores throughout June.

Each store will feature a unique design concept in collaboration with major ramen brands. For instance, Yeouido and Jamsil locations will showcase Nongshim-themed installations, while Ottogi will take the spotlight at Ttukseom and Apgujeong.
