[Photo: 7-Eleven]South Korea’s 7-Eleven has introduced a new instant noodle inspired by Tokushima ramen, a beloved regional specialty from Tokushima Prefecture, known as one of Japan’s ramen heartlands.
According to 7-Eleven, the ramen – launched on the 28th – features a rich soy sauce and pork bone broth, topped with raw egg, mirroring the traditional Tokushima recipe often referred to as a local “soul food.” It's considered one of Japan’s signature ramen varieties.
The product was developed in collaboration with Eastar Jet, the sole airline operating direct flights between Incheon and Tokushima, and Harim, a major South Korean food company. The three partners spent nearly a year working together across planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and marketing to bring the idea to life.
The resulting ramen blends elements of shoyu (soy sauce-based) and tonkotsu (pork-based) ramen, staying true to Tokushima’s distinctive style. It even includes egg blocks to replicate the raw egg topping traditionally served in the region.
A key component is a separate packet of green citrus (cheonggyul) sauce, a tangy local delicacy from Tokushima Prefecture, commonly used in everything from seafood dishes to desserts and highballs. The sauce enhances the ramen’s signature umami profile.
To celebrate the launch, 7-Eleven is offering a “2+1” promotion at stores nationwide through the end of next month. The ramen will also be served as an in-flight meal on Eastar Jet’s Incheon–Tokushima route starting in June.
