[Photo: medicube]South Korean cosmetics firm APR, best known for its skincare brand MediCube, has issued a warning over a growing number of counterfeit products originating from China, urging consumers to exercise caution.
On the 28th, the company posted a consumer advisory on the official MediCube website titled “Guidance on Preventing Damage from Counterfeit Products.”
APR stated that fake versions of several popular products – including the PDRN Pink Peptide Ampoule and Deep Vita C Capsule Cream – have begun circulating in the market, prompting reports of significant harm from affected consumers.
“We strongly encourage customers to purchase authentic items only through the official MediCube website or authorised retailers such as Olive Young,” the company said.
According to APR, the Chinese-made counterfeits bear a close resemblance to the genuine products, mimicking both packaging and bottle design to the extent that they are nearly indistinguishable to the untrained eye.
Subtle misspellings—such as "Golagen" instead of "Collagen" and "mi" rather than "ml"—have been spotted on the packaging, requiring careful scrutiny to identify.
In some cases, the mandatory “responsible cosmetics distributor” address, required under South Korean law, listed a non-existent domestic location, further indicating inauthenticity.
